Wondrous Wreath Christmas shadow box card

As it is coming to the end of September we have started our preparations for Christmas (where has this year gone?)

In this weeks class, we used the shadow box card principle from last week, but this time created a christmas card using the Wondrous Wreath stamp set and co-ordinating framelits. These not only make great cards, but also lovely decorations or wall hangings.....

We all liked the stand on the back which folds flat

Butterfly basics shadow box frame

Hi Everyone,
Last week in my classes we made this lovely shadow box frame card. The card was totally inspired by the design created by Amanda over at The Craft Spa where she has produced an extremely helpful tutorial.

The frame is made from 12" x 12" card which has been scored, cut and folded accordingly. The intricacy proved to be challenging for some of my ladies, but patience and perseverance won, creating a great result.

The frame was decorated with pool party card measuring 5.75" x 5.75". Sorry for being imperial, but it worked out that way.  The centre was cut out with the large scalloped square framelits which was then run through the big shot with the fluttering textured embossing folder.

The waste from this was used for matting the main design inside the picture frame

Butterfly basics stamp set was used  along with gorgeous grunge for the images and the flowers were coloured in using the blender pens.

We even made a stand for the back which folds flat, so it can be displayed like a picture. They also look great as a decoration for your wall and can be made in any design or colour, to match your decor. Great if you fancy something different and have some time to make.

The card for the stand measures 2" x 9.5", scored at 0.5", 1.5", 2.5" and 6".

Have fun

Linda x

Bird builder anniversary using a masking technique

Whilst we were on holiday a couple of weeks ago my husband and I celebrated our 28th Wedding Anniversary!

This is the card I made for him and one we recreated in the classes last week

A large heart  was cut out using one of the heart framelits onto a spare piece of card and placed it over the base white card and the centre was sponged with crumb cake. Leaving the mask in place, I randomly stamped 'I love You' over the top.The mask was then removed and the punched out leaves are stuck around the edge.

A couple of birds and wings were punched from the bird builder punch and edges were sponged. The wings were placed in an embossing folder to give it a fancy element

The second card used a similar masking technique but with three squares instead of the one heart.

The edges of the card were scored, inked and glued to the base card with 3d foam pads to give it dimension.  Dazzling diamonds were added to the images to give a little sparkle

These are very quick and simple cards to re-create

Look out for more cards like these over the next few weeks with a christmas theme!

Butterfly Half circle pop up card

I have used my favourite stamp sets so far from the Annual Catalogue, 'Butterfly Basics, Watercolor Wings and matching framelits' along with the very popular brick wall embossing folder to create the following half circle pop up card. I found the tutorial for this shape of card on Pinterest

The card is decorated on the outside and when it is opened a surprise butterfly pops up in the middle!

Two of the smaller butterflies were attached to a piece of acetate with glue dots to look like it is flying in the air!

The fluttering butterfly embossing folder was used for the top section of the card, but it is difficult to see from the photo

Wedding celebrations and mini book

A few months ago my nephew Darren (also our God Son) and his future bride Kirsteen asked me to design and make their wedding invitations incorporting the 'Japanese Cherry Blossom' design and in the colour scheme of 'Cadbury purple'. I used the Stampin Up! 'Elegant Eggplant' cardstock, which was a perfect contrast for the deep purple we all know from our Cadbury's Chocolate bars or Easter Eggs.

After making a few samples this is the design they chose:-

The design was an open envelope style, secured together by a belly band in white pearlised card. Inside the invitation, I included the wedding invite (2 separate versions one for the wedding itself and one for the evening reception). On the right hand side, I incorporated a little pocket, which displayed their wishes for presents etc. and housed a separate sheet of paper with instructions on how to find the various venues.

The wedding was held at Ordsall Hall in Manchester, with the evening reception being held at the Lowry Centre, Salford Quays, overlooking Manchester United's 'Old Trafford' football ground and the TV studios.

The request from the hosts, was for no presents, but monetary donations could be made if desired, to their 'Wishing Well' to allow for future purchases and complete items on their 'bucket list'. As an extra feature, I also made some co-ordinating money wallets below, for this purpose.
The wedding was a great success and the weather stayed fine. It was also an opportunity for family and friends to get together and the venue's were so central, it gave us an excuse to make a weekend of it, do a spot of shopping (as if I needed the excuse!) and visit some of our old cruising friends. We even managed to spend a few hours in Ikea on the way across.

Darren & Kirsteen - You probably guessed the colour scheme was Cadbury Purple....

My family Selfie...
I know I should have dressed Paul and made sure his collar was flat..lol

As part of their wedding present I made a mini book containing 6 pages in Elegant Eggplant and Pearlised white Card  and decorated it using various dies and punches. I left most of the pages blank so they could fill it with their own photos

I showed the completed book to my class members and they all responded with a plea to make one themselves in a class.  I have therefore planned a class to make a similar book in a pool party (pale blue) colour combination. The book can be adapted to suit all occasions:
