Waterfall card and matching box using Swallowtail and Papillon Potpourri

It's now the end of August and I'm keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed, that the weather forecasters have got it right and we are heading into an Indian Summer!

This post is from a few weeks ago and my last monthly class at Running with Scissors. We had a great morning making this lovely 'waterfall card'. Thanks Tracey, as always, for being a great host and providing ample tea and coffee etc.

The card is made from half a sheet of A4 and when the ribbon is pulled down on the tag, it provides a waterfall effect and reminds me of a watermill wheel and paddles!

In the second half of the class (a very full 2 hours) we made a matching box, which is perfect if you want to give a little gift to go with a card. I gave one recently and filled it with homemade fudge and coconut ice, yummy.

The stamp sets used are the Stampin Up! Gorgeous Grunge, Swallowtail and Papillon Popourii The latter has 7 detailed butterflies of different designs. The punched out butterflies were die cut from the Beautiful Wings embosslit folder and cuts out 5 different sizes of butterflies at the sametime and is great value at £9.95. We used a colour combination of Pink pirouette, wisteria wonder and crumb cake.

The card had a top fold, so easily stands up for display and allows the inside to be decorated. I used a simple coordinated design, as below.

The next four photographs show the waterfall effect, in action. Each panel decorated differently, but using a slightly varied theme, providing a rippling effect, when in action.

Below is the matching box, again using the same theme.

I am now busily planning my next monthly classes which will be using some of the products from the New Autumn/Winter catalogue with a Christmas theme. I know it's only September but the weeks are creeping by and there are many of you who would like to get started on making their Christmas cards early! Flower patch workshop

Here is another set of cards using the Stampin Up! Flower patch stamp set

These cards were made specifically for a Stampin Up! party, which was held at a customers house a couple of weeks ago. The party was a great success and is an excellent way of spending a few hours with family and friends, creating some lovely cards or keep sakes.
If you are interested in holding a party, please let me know. A few glasses of wine and crafting can make an interesting afternoon or evening of fun.

A close up view showing the decoupaged flowers

A similar design as shown in my previous blog using  Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss and Pear Pizzazz

Why not contact me to arrange a party for yourself and friends and hopefully gain a free hostess gift.

The NEW
Autumn/Winter Catalogue

is launched tomorrow, so please come back for a browse

Flower patch screen card

First of all apologies for not having sent a blog out recently. Life has been hectic with numerous Birthday Celebrations and social events over the last few weeks. It would have also been nice to say lovely weather, but unfortunately typical for a bank holiday weekend, the weather has not been the best. Anyway, that said, I am now back in my craftroom and in catch-up mode, before planning some new projects and the run-up to Christmas.
The first card is a screen card. It is created from a single sheet of A4 card, it stands to make an impressive 3D display, whilst still keeping postage costs to a minimum.
The cards follow a very colourful floral style which make them ideal for a spring/summer event or special occasion.

The photograph below shows a plan view of the card. The stamp set used is the Flower Patch which comes in photopolymer and comprises of 19 different stamps at £22.95(134207). This set is also available as a bundle with the matching framelit dies at a cost of £37.25 (saving 15% 136788)

We used a range of colours which can be coordinated to suit your personal style or cater for individual taste...i.e. some people may want to change the sentiments!

The card from another angle showing more detail. A verse/greeting of your choice is then added on the reverse.

The second card was a very simple design utilising the rest of the stamps from the Flower Patch set. Both cards were made at my regular Friday Keelby Class and weekly gathering of friends.

Watch out soon for more cards, projects and photographs from events over the last few weeks.

Blackberry Bliss Concertina tag card

Hello everyone...Its Friday and another week has disappeared in the blink of an eye. At least we have seen summer at last, which even though it has been a little too warm for me at times, it was nice to see the sun shining and be able to sit outside in the evening

I would like to share the card with you that we have been making in the classes recently. It is a concertina tag card using one of the beautiful new in colours Blackberry Bliss teamed together perfectly with Pool party and Whisper White.

The concertina was created by scoring two pieces of A5 card in half and then joining the two pieces together to form three panels

We made the card in stages, preparing all the panels separately before placing them on the concertina card.

A close up of the front of the card showing one of the 'four frames' stamped in crumb cake and punched with the decorative label punch. These are available to buy as a bundle saving 15% (wood £29.25 and clear £25.75) Two butterflies were stamped and punched out and mounted on 3D foam to give  some dimension.

We wrapped a length of Lost Lagoon stitched satin ribbon around three of the panels.(I do love this new ribbon)

On the front  panel we punched three flowers from the itty bitty accents punch.  The rhinestones in the middle of the flowers were coloured in using the new blendabilities

One of the inside panels showing  the 'Dictionary' background stamped with crumb cake and then stamped butterflies from 'Papillon Potpourri' in the same colour.

All the inside panels had a pocket containing a tag in which a message of photo could be added

All edges were inked with crumb cake and the sentiments are from the Perfect Pennants stamp set

This is how the card looks opened out. Each of the panels could be made into 4 individual cards if you didn't want to complete it as a concertina one.

As mentioned in a previous blog post, we made this card at my monthly class at Running with Scissors, Grimsby.  The next class at Running with Scissors is on Saturday 16th August 10am - 12pm and at my home on Sunday 17th August and Monday 18th August when we will be making a waterfall card and matching box.

There are still some spaces available  so please message me if you would like to reserve a place on one of next weeks classes.

Blendabilities

Stampin Up have launched their own alcohol based markers. The pens come in a pack of three, each pack containing 3 pens in the same colour but dark, medium and light shades at £10.95 per set.

They are double ended with two nib types and come in a great range of colours all coordinating with existing SU colour range a perfect match for SU ink, ribbon, card etc.

There are a few youtube tutorials out there, here is the link:

Last weeks card class using the new blendabilities and the spotlight technique.

The Dictionary background was stamped in crumb cake and the pleasant poppies stamped in memento black. On a separate piece of whisper white, pleasant poppies stamped again in memento black and coloured in using the daffodil delight blendabilities. Part of the image was then punched out with the 2 1/2 inch circle punch.

Apologies for the little black mark on the punched out circle!

Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon cardstock with whisper white card embossed using the new Lovely Lace embossing folder.

Cardstock in Lost Lagoon,  pink pirouette and whisper white were punched with 2 3/8", 1 3/4" and 1 1/4" scallop circles. The small flowers were stamped and punched out using the Pictogram punches stamp set and itty bitty accents punch
