Graduation cards using owl punch

Just a quick post from me today to show you the graduation cards I have made recently.

One was for my my daughter Louise and the others were orders I received. Don't forget, if you want anything making for an extra special occasion just let me know.

The first two cards use the traditional black/white gown/hat theme and that very handy owl punch, that keeps popping up from time-time. The last card, still on the black/white theme, could be used for any formal occasion, not only a graduation:

A fun fold card. The contrast of the red tassle really gives that finishing touch. The card easy fits in a standard envelope and gives a lovely 3D effect, when opened below........

The added touch of a scroll and added colour, takes away some of the traditional theme

Remove the hat and add a bow tie, for a great formal night, thank you or congratulations card

Anyway, now off to the Cleethorpes Airshow, which Cristal (Paul's work) are sponsoring. Might see you there.........x

Graduation Day

We had a very enjoyable, sunny and proud family day yesterday. It was our eldest daughter's (Louise) graduation day. After graduating from York University in 2012, she has now completed a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) at Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln to become a fully qualified teacher. After spending a significant amount of time doing work experience in various schools, she starts her first full time Teaching job at Canon Peter Hall School, Immingham in September 2014.

The graduation was held at Lincoln Cathedral, which was a fabulous venue for such an occasion and even better with the sun shining down! :-)

Although we had some professional photograpghs done (available in 4-6 weeks), Paul insisted on taking his usual 'click-click' opportunities at every opportunity (Egged on by Louise though!)

In addition, a complete stranger offered to use Louise as a 'Guinea Pig' for his Photography learning experience and has published them on his website:-

Below are some that Paul took:-

Family Day out (Thankyou for taking, Martin)

In the Cathedral Annex

The ceremony started at 10.15am and lasted about 1 hour 15 minutes. In total there were 1046 students who graduated throughout the day in three different ceremonies

We had some photos taken around the Cathedral and then walked back to the University where we were provided with Strawberries and Prosecco wine as part of the celebration. With the hot weather, Paul and Martin managed to persuade them to swap the Prosecco for a nice cold Pint...

As it was such a glorious day we travelled to Daisy Maid for a fantastic icecream

and then finished the day off with a celebration meal at Damons Restaurant

We are now looking forward to our youngest daughter, Leanne's graduation in October!

Cards using new products

Hi everyone, welcome to my weekly blog.

It's been a few hectic days since I last posted, starting with 3 days of craft classes (Scrapbooking class on Thursday, weekly Friday class at Keelby and my regular monthly class at Running with Scissors) I managed to find a little time for some relaxation with a charity night of Opera and song at Hull Holy Trinity Church on Friday evening and then an afternoon of exploring the delights of Brigg Garden Centre and the new Craft Cabin on Sunday

This week was then back to the usual housework and craft planning, but I took the opportunity to go to Meadhowhall today to try and find some last minute things (more shoes!) to go with my outfit for my daughter's graduation tomorrow. We have to be up very early in the morning to travel to the University to pick up the gown and hat, and then walk to Lincoln Cathedral. I hope the rain holds off.... We need to be in our seats at Lincoln Cathedral by 9.45am. This will be followed by Strawberries and wine, photo shoot and then a family tea out at Damon's. My stomach is looking forward to it already.

Anyway, enough of my diary antics, below I am sharing a couple of cards from the classes held a couple of weeks ago both using some new products from the catalogue. Can you spot which ones they are? (No prize unfortunately!)

New products on the above card: decorative dots embossing folder, Hello Honey ink and stitched satin ribbon.

New products on the second card: Hello honey and lost lagoon cardstock, lost lagoon ink and stitched satin ribbon and itty bitty accents punch. I have also used the Four Frames stamp set and Decorative label punch. This is available to buy as a bundle saving 15%. (wood £29.95 136597 Clear £25.75 136598)

Well I must get an early night and hope the hot weather is not disturbing your sleep pattern too much.

Linda x

P.S. I will post photos of the Graduation in my next blog, with the graduation cards I have recently made.

Catalogue Launch Photos

Hello to you on this beautiful sunny Monday afternoon. I am sharing the photos of the projects we made yesterday at my catalogue launch party.

Over the two hours we made two cards and a tag.

The tag was made using the scalloped topper tag punch and the new 'Something for Baby' stamp set (Woodmount is £26.95 Clearmount is £19.95) and matching framelits (£20.95). You can also purchase this set as a bundle  (wood bundle £40.75, clear bundle £34.75) saving 15%.

We used a colour combination of So Saffron, Pistachio Pudding and Crumb Cake. The tag can be used on its own with a gift or as a topper and make it into a greetings card. This stamp set is so sweet and contains no less than 13 stamps which only just fit into the box!

The next project is a card using the lovely new in-colours of Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon and Work Of Art stamp set. (wood £26.95  clear £19.95)  I admit I overlooked this stamp set when I first went through the catalogue but there are lots of lovely samples on pinterest where I became inspired and it had to go on my wanted list!

Again this set contains so many stamps, it is a work of art trying to fit them all in! There is a total of 11 in the box.  Once they were in place I took a photo of them to remind me next time I am using it where they should be placed.

The last card we made used the blendabilities markers to colour the flowers from the Flower Shop set. These are exclusive alcohol based marker sets some in a 3-pack of light, medium and dark shades (of the same colour) and provide your projects a more saturated look with blended colours. At the moment there are 7 different colours available: Cherry Cobbler, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Skin Tone assortment at a price of £10.95 per set.

I demonstrated three different techniques on how to colour in the flowers using coastal cabana, rich razzleberry and daffodil delight.

After the flowers were coloured in and punch out they were attached to the card on top of another new product, some strips cut from the designer series paper stack, Moonlight.  There are 48 sheets in each stack, 4 each of 12 double sided designs measuring 11.4 x 16.5 cm, £6.25

In addition to their projects each one of the ladies took home a sample of the new in-colour card, bookmark and catalogue and a little handmade pouch containing chocolates

With all the activities going on yesterday I totally forgot to take a photo of the wonderful cakes which my daughter made for us. However, here is a photo of the ones which were left!!!

All the Stampin' Up!  products can be viewed and ordered through my online shop. However, I will be placing an order over the next few days if there was anything you wanted and you live locally please contact me and I will add your order to it

Annual Catalogue Launch Day 2014

I want to start by saying a big thank you to all the ladies that attended my 2 catalogue launch sessions today. Over the 2 sessions I had 12 ladies, who not only explored the new catalogue and made some fabulous cards plus a tag with the new products, but also enjoyed a delicious 'cup cake' made by my daughter Leanne.

The day was very enjoyable, with lots of fun and laughter, even if we made the odd mistake, which always adds to that little bit of individualism to the cards. Remember there are no mistakes in crafting, just happy accidents!

In addition, I had numerous items for sale, both from the new catalgue and some retired items, which are still very popular. One item is priceless on the photograph's, see if you can spot!

Before we started - all set-up and ready to go. Each person was supplied with a new catalogue, cardstock samples of the new in-colours, a tag stamped with all the new ink pad in-colours and a little thank you pouch containing chocolates
Some of the new products, sample cards and project life pages I have made to demonstrate them...

Some more of the new products, sample cards and a frame mainly using 'something for baby', 'work of art' stamp sets and the new 'lovely lace' embossing folder

The first session in action, before the cup cakes and refreshments took over!

My table of retired catalogue items, all at below catalogue price. If anyone would like to buy an item, I am open to reasonable offers, before I advertise elsewhere.
Paul says, Sorry, but one item is not for sale!!!

Thanks again if you managed to attend one of my catalogue launch sessions. I will share the cards we made tomorrow, but I know Tracey has already beaten me to it. Thanks Tracey for your lovely comments and as always, great company.

I still have some new catalogues available, so if anyone couldn't make it and would like to explore the 249 pages of fabulous products and ideas, they are available at £3

Great Launch Day, thank you.

Peaceful petals and flower shop

Just when we thought summer was here, the heavens open. I suppose it means we don't need to water the flowers/hanging baskets. On the theme of flowers, I have a few cards to share with you that were made in recent classes. The cards were made a few weeks ago before some of the products were put on the retired list. One of the stamps is the peaceful petal set but there are lots of new lovely  products in the new annual catalogue which will drive your inspiration wild!

The first card uses a very simple, but effective design with the scalloped topper tag punch, finished off with a small piece of colour co-ordinated ribbon. .... The background was stamped with one of the stamps from the gorgeous grunge set. The flower head was painted with the aquapainter in crisp cantaloupe and decoupaged onto the stem

The second one uses basic square shapes on a contrasting background, finished off with some butterflies and three flowers in vellum stamped in versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder. This type of design can be used with many different stamps/punches for all occasions

The third one depicts what I was hoping for today, a summer's day theme with butterflies hovering over long meadow grass. These simple butterflies look amazing on most designs.

The grass and sentiment is from the Wetlands set with a colour combination of melon mambo and wild wasabi

I am looking forward to the weekend, although it will be a very busy one. I am at a Craft Fair at one of the local schools on Saturday afternoon and its my annual catalogue launch party on Sunday which I am running two sessions.

I will be back after the weekend with photos of the events.
